I now have the 75 cams installed, with the left rear extension that will, (I understand from C5performance) allow me to use a C5 ignition on the left head.

So here's my question?

The extension, does not appear to have a cam to it, it seems to be perfectly round.

Is there some kind of sleeve that I still need, to accomplish my goal? And if so, how does it fit in the correct position to offer an engine position reference?

Hey Dan, please don't take this the wrong way dude.

But I think I #u(K!ing love you.

I've heard stories of people whacking that extension off with a just a hammer blow, and seem to also remember an exploded diagram (which I can't find right now) with a knock pin that held a sleeve in place.

Whacking that stem off is such a shame.
Just as bad (in my opinion) as all of those front turn signal brackets that got their mounting tabs knocked off to install Vetter farings. :Awe:

You know I love the Rat's Nest! :lust: I got very familiar with her!
:thanks: :moped:

Hmmmm.... so if I want to install the set of 77 cams that I have, and I want to remove the engine again to remove the C5, what will I need to mount that C5 kit onto to back of the head?

Gotta ask Paul but I'd guess you need a 1000 c5. You already have it installed so just leave it where it is and install your cams.

one the c5 is in the most accurate place on your bike brian ..even though hard to get at ....2 you could put 77 cams in with stem on and just get 1000 iggy cover to cover it up ..3 if you want you could put point ..dyna ... c5 ... or any ignition in the 1000 cover as instant back up ignition if there ever was problem ... to me brian you sit rather nice in options and set up with 77 cams installed along with c5 in rear ... witch runs directly off the crankshaft .. hard to beat that direct hook up

Yep, that's why I moved mine from the rear to head and bought the programmer.
I bumped advance 5 degrees more across the board and I actually felt a loss of power so
my thinking now is Power Arc did a fine job on the curves just as they are.
Of course your setup is different than mine so who knows what could happen.

The more I play around with my switch the more I like the ability to change the settings. I crab a different switch setting for a hill or when I had the trailer on, and there is a definite difference. Next weekend, I hope to put it to longer test with a trip pulling the trailer to Vermont to pick up another Vetter Fairing and all of my camping gear.

Being able to program the ignition may be nice, but after reading this though maybe the preprogrammed settings are enough.

I think the 3 full sparks are the big magic in the C5 changing the burn characteristics so different that giving it more advance actually lowers performance.
I'm sure Paul and Gary could enlighten us more on this.
