You can find an electrical troubleshooting manual in the gallery for the Gl 1200 that covers the entire system and also breaks down each sub system. It will tell you everything about Honda goldwing wiring .

Here is a quick reference chart that is pretty accurate but may vary slightly model to model.

And here is the place to purchase connectors some of which will plug and play into the original Honda harness. They have everything you may need including the best crimper a and connector release tools. Great company to work with.

I bought things from vintage connections before. They have nearly any connector ever put on a bike minus the wires.I had trouble getting the wires in the connector and locked into place.

that chart is interesting.I thought black wires were usually a ground. But it can be hot in some cases it seems. And I thought white wires were usually hot. It all depends where downstream from the battery they are and whether there is a switch somewhere in their path.If I understand correctly:1. a switch is open or close.Or off or on.When it is off, the circuit is open. When it is closed the circuit is hot.If its origin is the battery then it is hot all the time unless a switch opens it. Running 16 gauge wire to something that really needs 19 ga will not get enough current to whatever its connected to.Using 19 ga where 16 is supposed to be will draw too much current, either burning out a component or entire harness if the direct short is not interrupted by say turning off the key or disconnecting the battery cable.Any of these statements right?

Basically Honda uses three Backbones in the harness, Red for hot, Black for switched hot and Green for ground. These backbones run the length of the harness or nearly the full length. You will also find that most devices are made hot or turned on when the switch for the device completes the ground circuit, the device is normally wired "hot"all the time.
