been noticing after about ten miles,, radio picks up engine noise.. just tried radio and bike was on the trickle charger and that was mess'n it up.. I don't think I just need resister plugs,, think sumthn's goin out in the radio.. last "attempt" at getting the cassette player to work,,, when I put the cassette in the fairing,,,,it had a profound effect on the radio,, it's supposed to switch it over to cassette,, but more like I was wreck'n sumthn internal in the radio when I was trying it. do I need a different radio? or could this one be fixed?

i second joedrum...had same thing happening on my '83 Interstate, picked up a new radio n speakers, rewired all and tinned wire ends before crimping to quick disconnects----now, clear and loud with no engine noise pickup. Found my radio n speaker set on craigslist-$50

does anyone know if the problem would be in the control module? actual radio is located in the bike sumwhere? or the outer control's that u can unlock and take off the bike?

Not sure re your setup, but my 83 interstate the radio was mounted above the gauge cluster...in a plastic housing. Wires for power and grd went from radio to a little rectangular "filter" with a +/- screw down connection. This "filter" was fried and oozing oily substance. New raqadio went in and i bypassed this "filter" no engine interference thru radio anymore

mines an aspencade,, and the control's are on the LH side of the fairing, low.. I'm starting to think that is the actual radio/ not just the control's.. but I looked on ebay,, and they are calling another part the "control" unit.. Just tryin to double check w/u guys and see if I replace the part in the fairing,,, if that's the actual radio,, or if that unit is just a controller to the radio.. I'm guessin it's the actual radio/cb/ :hi:
