rear shocks,,, can mess up your day

Maybe one side had been broken for some time, and the other was holding things up - until it couldn't take it any more. That would put quite a bit of twisting force on the swingarm...

Well...can't blame ya for tryin!
I think they can be repaired, even if you need new springs. Springs are available, and used/junk shocks are too, for parts, if they need the spring seats/clips. IF the groove for the circlip in the shock itself is messed up, then it's time for new/replacement shocks. Ya needs to get them off, and see what failed.....inquiring minds wanna know! :yes:

I'm with ya there ... never seen it before looks like the retaining nut went right through the outer cover. I wonder if this thread should be merged with the "how much weight can I carry" thread..!!
Track are you a big man (like me) or was the previous owner a guy that didn't do enough push away's (from the Kitchen table - unfortunately again -- like me..)
 
,, no broken springs,,, I will have to go over Aapple's pictorial/print next.. nothing even looks worn really,, supposedly this bike has 15k miles,, the only wear I saw was one of the stud hole grommets on the shock was ovaled a lil bit. oh,, some really nasty black grease or sumthn inside the shock. .. thanx for the info on the 1200 shocks..
 
I would like to know what failed on those things....it's just too freekin weird. :headscratch:
