Dan, I learned something about the many years ago when all the truckers wanted CB radios wired up. We created direct ground to the batteries wherever we could and it eliminated almost all electrical noise in the radios. Some of the high voltage electric equipment like forklifts have their negatives totally isolated from the ground. Most are running AC power with big DC-AC inverters

That accessory power circuit came from a guy named Rudy of Rudys products. He makes reinforcement panels for GL BODY PANELS Also I still believe in clean, crimp and solder all connections. And those ground circuits are every bit as important as the feed sides. GOLDWINGS are notorious for undersized wires, poor splices and excessive voltage drop. They seem ok up to about 1.2 volts drop while cars scream if you get more than about .7 volts. Thers "point" 7 or 7/10ths of a volt

All good comments! :thanks:

I am going to add another ground wire for the harness and upgrade some of the smaller wires. The wire that brings power to the ACC terminal is only 18 gauge. I wish I had know that before I started hooking up all kinds of stuff to that stud! :hihihi: Never blew that glass 10 Amp fuse so most have been OK.

I am looking at a distribution panel as well as a fuse box. The DP has the advantage of a single buss bar for all of the fuses and also a negative buss that I could bring some of these grounds too a little cleaner.

I have looked at the Motogadget M-Unit, but the price is out of my range. (Nice unit though).

I am going to try a clean the plugs and terminals with the white vinegar trick chuck c posted. I will replace any that are not worth cleaning. most of them look pretty clean and bright inside the clips.

Depending on what you have in mind for the future , the SE-I fuse box has eleven blade slots and seven relays, they run for thirty to fifty bucks on eBay.

Could you post a link or a picture please Mike.
:thanks:

Sure, here is one nice one with a make an offer on it and there's another one listed for about half that price. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1986-Honda-GL12 ... 51&vxp=mtr
That is a great idea!!! :thanks:

Relays and all! Plus, it appears that it might be a very similar footprint as the 1100 to boot! Rewiring should be fairly straight forward.

+1 on excellent idea Mike, I thought that might of been what you were referring to but searching SE-I fuse box didn't get me any results. :head bang:
:thanks:

Low offer was accepted! :yahoo:

Great !! If you will look in the gallery at the GL 1200 Electrical manual pages 24 they 27 it will give you the wire color code of each fuse and relay for the SE-I box. Happy wiring !!!

Ooops!!! A little bit bigger than I expected!

It is a great fuse box, but might have a hard time finding a home for it.

FYI, if I cut down the air intake box and add a plate, it might mount in there:

Just toss that bottle thingy it'll fit! :smilie_happy:
I am considering any ideas. Modifications to the coolant tank are not out of the question.

Actually, this might just work! It looks like the 1200 has a smaller coolant tank in width to allow the fuse box to fit. I wonder if a 1200 reservoir can fit an 1100? Anybody able to check?
