The p.o. must have removed the regulator on my bike. How do I test to see if they installed a duel purpose regulator/rectifier? If I went ahead and installed a regulator where it's supposed to be and there is a regulator/rectifier already installed, what problems will i run into? Also, what reason would there be for removing a regulator altogether?

yep your going to realy have stare at this thing for awhile to figure whats up here ...be patience and it will come to you ...keep your hands mostly idle till you get it sorted ...easy to make wrong move

I have the same situation with my 79 gl1000, regulator has been removed. I know there is alot of "creative wiring" by the battery and I believe there is a combined unit installed there. I will get into it Sunday to correct the wiring job, I will know for sure then what was done.
