Heading out in the morning to the farm in northeast Arkansas (in a cage) :Awe: but its for a good cause, cause my mamie said for me to get my butt up there. :smilie_happy: Anyways, I' going over to Piggott, Ar. where they make and install the seatcovers that littlebeaver just got for his ride to check them out. I'm carrying Atila's seat with me for a new cover. The 84 seat is shaped different than the 85 and 86. Didn't know that till I had them side by side. The 84 is higher backed front and rear and the saddle is actualy narrower where your thighs fit. Think it might be more comfortable for those of us with circulation problems.

I hope you have better luck than I have had with them. I ordered a cover from them, it didn't fit. I took it to a local shop and they confirmed that it wouldn't fit. Called them several times because they originally indicated they would install the cover for fifty bucks, I was more than willing to pay the fifty dollars to have them install it or install one that would fit. Will not return my phone calls.

As I said, I made the journey to the farm this last week and I made the journey over to Piggott, Ar, the home of Excel custom forming, the maker of seat covers for the gold wing and other motorcycles. Little beaver had purchased one and installed on his Ginger and was pleased with the outcome. It does look good from the pictures he posted. Old wrench stated that his did not fit and they would not return his calls.

The 100 mile trip to visit with these folks and to pickup a seat cover for Atila, my 84 model was a complete waste of time. After finding the building, I was greeted by a big sign on the doors and the windows stating, "WE ARE NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC", the white square signs, they wouldn't come to the door either. I thought , your selling to the public but your not open to the public. WTH You don't need my business.

I can't say whether their good or bad to do business with but it seems unlikely that you can get any kind of problem resolution with them, and in the back of my mind they are only a drop ship company importing seat covers from the far east.

So, I guess if you want to do business with them, it's at your own risk and here's a pic showing I made the journey. Happy Trails.

Well that's messed up they don't even answer the door. Not the kind of people I would deal with!?
I wouldn't buy from them.

Thanks for making the trip to check them out!
my sentiments exactly !! :sensored:

Anybody want a gold wing seat cover that don't fit, didn't think so.

Well I guess we all live and learn.

Anybody riding on Saddleman seats or know anything about them? They have a nice looking seat complete with new foam and pan for 221.00.

They make different kinds. I have the double bucket. Firm to very firm. I thought I had made a mistake when I first bought it but now ( after about 1k miles) I like it. My wife doesn't much care for it since the passenger bucket isn't as roomy as the stock seat and since it's sized more for the 81-82 she ends up sitting too far forward to comfortably lean back against the trunk. I'm getting the passenger section modified/lenghtened to fit the 83 properly this winter. I've really come to appreciate the firmness and now find the stock seat too mushy/wobbly.
