I'll take 100 degrees and a breeze over this garbage any day!

Yeah, at least when it's 100 I can run around half naked and be comfortable. I can't seem to put on enough clothing and be comfortable and still be able to move. I feel like Randy in "A Christmas Story!

I am sick and tired of the News opening up with: BREAKING NEWS!!! It’s Cold Out! Ahhh, no kidding, it’s Winter!

They canceled school here... when was it ever too cold to go to school? Maybe we have turned into a Nation of wussies, or maybe just Superintendents are too afraid of receiving phone calls from angry soccer moms that don’t want their children to go out in the cold any more, only to dress up their kids and then take them shopping.

The last 30 years or so have produced such delicate little darlings. I could expound all day on it but not in the open forums.

It is a media event only!! Around here in the Philadelphia area, people are acting like this is the first serious cold spell to ever hit the area! :smilie_happy:

Back in the 1900's through 1940's, the City of Philadelphia used to have their own fleet of ice breaker ships specifically for the 109 miles of the Delaware river. Back then, the river would freeze solid enough that people used to drive their cars across the ice to New Jersey (rather than pay to use the car ferry down river). Do you realize how many days of below 20 degrees it has to be for a large tidal river to freeze solid enough to support cars?? :whip:

These days, any day near 33 degrees is a media opportunity to create a frenzy!! (Can anybody remember why we used to sing about having a White Christmas here in the Northeast?.....that was the normal weather!) :nea:

Even in the '70's, we would be able to ice skate in the streets of Philadelphia for weeks at a time. (Must have been a tad bit colder back then huh!)

I am no stranger to cold temps around here! :hihihi:

If I have to watch one more "Journalist" show me how cold it is by making something wet and timing how long it takes for it to freeze...

Yeah, that's news!!!

Personally I was truly amazed a wet shirt would freeze in only minutes in sub zero weather. I'm going to do a controlled study here at home, I'm going to wet some of Janet's underwear and put them in the freezer. The results should be fascinating, and I'll post my findings later.
