As a recent classic owner, certain area's of potential improvements become apparent.

My bike is an interstate model with complete luggage.

It is difficult to mount the bike without often marring the top of the saddlebags with a boot heel.

Has anyone came up with a good scuff guard material for this area?
Homemade or manufactured.

Terry, when you find one, let me know. Like Joe, I lways get the boot on the seat going on due to the backrest, but coming off I seem to get the boot on ths bg lid. I guess I get the worst of both worlds.

I step on left foot peg and then swing right leg over. :good:

better not try that around here ..you might find yourself where bikes aint suppose to be ....

I have a perfect solution! I get on the bike on the side stand and swing my leg over the faux tank. Never touch the bags anymore with my boot heel!!

Okay, just ignore the torn pinstriping on the faux tank........that wasn't from my boot heel......that is from the front of my boot! :whip:

Well....... you were only asking for a solution for touching with your heel! :smilie_happy:

There are custom chrome do dads that glue onto the lid tops just for that, somewhat rare When I find a set I`ll post them here..also there is the clear rock guard by 3M and other manufacturers, just a clear plastic shield that you put on the paint like a window tint goes on only it is a little heavier. also called invisible bra.

There is clear shrink wrap that is used on most new bikes to prevent stone chips on the main wearing parts of the fairing. I think 3M makes some product that is even thicker for dirt bikes.

Apparently everyone has missed the most obvious solution to this problem.....just get LONGER LEGS..... :Doh2:

I've had the same issues with bangin the bag meself. I have learned to swing my leg up high on dis-mount. I've actually ripped the upholstery on my backrest from the hooks on my work boots snagging on the backrest. :sensored: :head bang:

There is a product called "Cleartastic". Not sure but I think it is made by 3M. It's a static cling type, clear film similar to Saranwrap, but thicker. It will stay on at far above the legal speed limits, too.....don't ax how I might know that.....

Thanks to those with helpful suggestions. I found something that's going to look right, like it belongs, and am going to install it.
