My tach cable works but is cracked near the metal base and a little oil drips/ bubbles from it when the bike is running. I'm worried this means my camshaft seal is bad, not just a bad cable, is that right?

No, there is an O-ring in the tach drive. It needs to be replaced. It is an easy seal to get at with the cable out.
I know the O ring you're referring to but if the oil is coming out the split in the cable jacket at the metal end but not lower then I'd expect the O ring is OK.

Do not believe there is a cam seal on the rear of the right cam. so if something was leaking it would be the external plastic spacer between head and fuel pump or the o ring or cable etc.

There is no camshaft seal, oil needs to be in the housing. If oil is bubbling out, there might be pressure in the crankcase - check the breather hoses, air cleaner box, and drain canister.

It has an electric aftermarket fuel pump and single carb without breather hose. There is a breather hose left rear of engine that just drains to ground, i used that to flush the engine with diesel, but I don't see where another would go. Nothing remains of the stock fuel pump. No drain canister and no air cleaner box either.

So, where is your tach driven from? 1200's all used electronic tachometers...

Its a 1200 block with 1100 heads and the tach drive is off the right rear cyl. Bike is an 83 1100.

I've never seen a tach drive housing like that.
Is there a name on it or any ideas where it came from?

No it came this way, and there is no name on it. I didn't get any info on the bike when I bought it, the guy I bought it from knew nothing either, other than it had a 1200 engine. He thought it just had 1100 valve covers, and didn't realize it had 1100 heads.

OK thanks guys. I knew the bike was custom but didn't know it had any one off parts.

Hopefully just a new cable will fix it, fingers crossed.

That's a first for me too and normally, there is no oil seal on the back of the right head but maybe your custom requires one.

This brings me to a subject I've been meaning to post for a while now.

When Honda warehouses tell you the oil seal is unavailable, go to Amazon, put 43x27x9 in the search engine and they pop right up, Honda used them in the 2000 CX9.

They work perfectly in my 1100.

I hope I don't need it but thanks, at least I'll have the option. I'm considering not replacing my cable now and somehow blocking off that tach drive. I don't want to use my stock guages long term so may as well go digital on both.
