My tach cable works but is cracked near the metal base and a little oil drips/ bubbles from it when the bike is running. I'm worried this means my camshaft seal is bad, not just a bad cable, is that right?
I know the O ring you're referring to but if the oil is coming out the split in the cable jacket at the metal end but not lower then I'd expect the O ring is OK.[url=https://classicgoldwings.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=130884#p130884:q4nc2v2v said:mcgovern61 » Wed Sep 10, 2014 2:23 pm[/url]":q4nc2v2v]
No, there is an O-ring in the tach drive. It needs to be replaced. It is an easy seal to get at with the cable out.

So, where is your tach driven from? 1200's all used electronic tachometers...

I've never seen a tach drive housing like that.
Is there a name on it or any ideas where it came from?

That's a first for me too and normally, there is no oil seal on the back of the right head but maybe your custom requires one.
This brings me to a subject I've been meaning to post for a while now.
When Honda warehouses tell you the oil seal is unavailable, go to Amazon, put 43x27x9 in the search engine and they pop right up, Honda used them in the 2000 CX9.
They work perfectly in my 1100.
