So...couple years back, 7v Regulator on my cx caused open/hot condition on temp gauge...possible for opposite to happen to the regulated gauges on my 82 1100i? Reg in decline intermittent possible? Fuses all good. Checking for compromised connections now...

Thanks,
Chris

I'm also attempting to determine if condition occurs only when bike is at full temp. Sofar that can't yet be eliminated???

You can get a solid state replacement from electronics store for pennies ( ok maybe a couple of bucks). It would require some soldering skills to modify current set up. I haven't done this on a GW but have done many car ones in the past, it is just a 12>7 volt power supply.

I had it all disassembled and still couldn't even locate the reg...got stopped by some frozen bolts on fairing when I finally decided to move it out of my way..c'mon penetrating oil, work your magic! As soon as I find it, il replace it.

Oh, and gauges still intermittently operational/zero reading, whether bike is cold or at operating temp.

Don't forget to check the ground point in the fairing.. they can get corroded or loose.. (Mine did) that can affect things also)... I had to ground mine on the metal plate in the bottom of the fairing pocket.. the one the fairing uses to attach to the brace..
