Looks great..
Something I can never understand is how some forums do not accept this ignition as an alternative, I have heard bitching galore on Dyna`s for years yet C5 comes along that adds more power and reliability , it comes with coils, and program ability and it seems to be ignored and even disparaged....
Sure it is a couple hundred more or so but you are getting more, for guys that will dump several thousand into bikes and parts , I just don't understand it.
I don't think it's not accepting it as much as being cautious. I won't get into power claims (beyond me) but as a NEW product, in this application, long term reliability has yet to be proven in my mind. While I accept that some spend a lot on their bikes, not all of us do (nor have the money to.) I've had my '78 for 7 years now, and excluding gas, oil, battery, tires, etc., I have less than ~ $750 invested in it. I can't, at this time, justify doubling my investment with a new ignition system (C5, Dyna, nor NOS OEM.)

Close minded folks plain and simple. I am sure once it gets a big sponsor name attitudes will change. It won't be long...
I don't think it's close minded as much as allowing free advertising. Obviously the C5 name needs to get advertised in the GW community, and forums are far reaching. As more data is collected I'm sure a more widespread acceptance will be the norm.
Part of my skepticism is from an experience in the late 70's. A friend had installed an electronic ignition in his '78 and it failed during a road trip. I don't remember what brand it was, but it left an impression on me. As the only thing swapped out was the points and part of the advance (which he had with him on the bike) we were able to reinstall them on the side of the road and continue. As such I always carry the points with me (my 78 has Dyna with Accell coils and my 76 has prestolite. Both received with parts bikes or they would be running with the points.)
Questions for Paul:
1. As the C5 is a complete system, will the rest of the system work with points and mechanical advance in an emergency, or would you need to swap out the coils to prevent damage to them? (of course this only applies to systems that had points OEM and are readily accessible like the 1000.)
2. After the warranty runs out, are individual parts of the system going to be available or do you have to buy another complete system?
3. As the 75-77 and 78-79 advance is different, are there 2 different sets of curves for the 2 models or just use the sensor wires to find the curve that works the best?
4. As all reports indicate the C5 ignition works very well, is it possible for it's efficiency to 'mask' a problem elsewhere?
I apologize if these questions have been answered previously. I must have missed them.
