Ok, I changed my timing belts. I lined up the marks and they looked good before I removed the old ones. When I pulled the old belts off, the right side cam pulley (if you're on the bike) moved about a half inch. I turned it back into position and put on the new belt. Once everything was in place and tightened up, the marks lined up perfect. Out of paranoia, I looked at the 6 ways to Sunday and they were dead nuts.

The problem is that now, at about 3.5 to 4K engine speed I'm noticing a very slight tick that I don't remember being there before. It's kind of faint but it's there and I don't know if its from me f--king up the belt change or if it was always there and I'm just listening closer now.

Am I killing it by riding it? Any ideas would be great!

Thanks!

I get alittle tick at that speed also.
Adjust the valves, that may take care of it.

As a test, do a compression check. If they all read close to each other up over 150 lbs then I'd say all is well.

I'll do a comp check to be sure but I haven't noticed any performance change. It's still running good and I keep telling myself that if I'd screwed it up too bad it would run rough or spit and sputter. That may be fantasy but it warms my little heart. :)

If the marks were lined up and the timing mark and crank were lined up correctly, then I agree with Dan, your valves may need to be adjusted now. Timing belts do not stretch that much, but they do stretch ever so little over time. A new set of belts makes everything tight again.
