Went looking for a truck.

You see the truck I'm driving behind the bike. 2.3 liter 4 banger in it. It's actually in pretty good shape but runs weird and no speedometer in it. The truck that is. I haven't gotten the transmission to drive the speedometer cable yet.
Yes I already expected the tires to be rather pricey. That was one of my negotiating points. :thanks:

Welcome to the Valkyrie division of CG. You're gonna love the torque on that thing. Speaking of tires, today I replaced the front with the recommended Avon which is also on the rear. Nice tire but hang on, $209 plus mounting. I found a used set of the Cobra 6-6 for $275 and they sound really great. Make sure they have the baffles if you buy used. The bike sounds like a Porsche up to 4000 rpm then turns into a Ferrari.

Who's recommending the Avon tires? I've been running the shinko tires on my 1200 and they seem to be just fine. I'm considering the shinko SE890 Journey Touring tires. Any bad reviews on those? My wife likes the look of the exhaust as is so I guess it'll stay for now. She doesn't often hold me back and didn't on my buying the bike.

Yes indeed! She's a keeper! She's stood by me and put up with me almost as long as all 3 exes combined. I'm hard headed I keep trying. :yahoo:

Just another tip Slab. The choke doesn't do anything unless it is full on for a cold start. You move the lever to what you think is full on and then it will go another bit with more pressure. The bike will then start cold with no throttle. It took me a while to figure it out. Once it is running for a minute or so you can turn the choke off. Be careful in first gear. The throttle response is really quick. Keep us posted on how you like it.

So far it's been starting very easy without the choke. It'll be getting new tires and serviced friday. From what I've been reading I may be the first to try the Shinko tires on a Valk. That alone will be worth posting about.
