I have spent the last two days looking for the red and black wired plug in the fairing. The PO has added so many wires for the radio and intercom I can not find the one I am looking for.. He put a jvc radio and cd player soooo many wires.

Can I run a wire from battery to clock wire?

Yes

I had the Honda one that the lens gets yellow on. I did buy a led volt gauge that fits in the cluster. Took 3 weeks to get here from China. But Hey $4.00 W/ free ship - How can I go wrong?
I still need to find a way to hook the lights up. The black and red plug in the fairing is either really hidden or PO cut it off.

I now have a working clock on my bike.
Thanks all.
I found that the drain on the battery would kill the battery in a week of not running. I put a on/off toggle inline so that I could turn off the clock if I suspected that I might not ride for a bit. Much easier to reset the clock than jump the battery.
Just a thought, Dave

Something else is more likely your issue, clock in a car type stereo draws very little power.

My Sony Radio that was mounted in my Vetter faring had 2 red wires. I moved it to my trunk and wired it the same way. One went to the acc terminal on the fuse box for power and the other to the battery with a fuse for maintaining the clock and radio settings. It has been wired this way for years and does not add much drain at all. My battery has only lost charge once in the almost 6 years it has been in service and that was because I left the key on after shutting off the engine with the kill switch.

I was going to mention watch the draw if you don't use a battery tender or leave the bike not running for awhile. Val started after seven weeks of sitting first go with choke ( even if it wasn't fast idle at first) which is something that a lot of late model fuel injected bikes don't like to do.( ECU, clock, security system etc all draw power when switched off).

Sorry, I didn't realize it was the clock in the radio. I have a separate analog clock in the fairing cluster that was drawing me down. Dave

I don't wanna clock on my bike, but I guess I'm just a throw-back from Easy Rider, y'know where Captain America threw off his watch at the beginning, that was heavy for me in my youth but I still don't want one now.

And anyway, if I was anyone in Easy Rider, I'd be Billy.

Not that I'm anyone's sidekick, but he was just way cooler!!

yep ....easy rider in a world full of dumb ...it looked to be the thing to do .....sheesh the worlds only got more evil and stupid ....i find myself right be back in the same spot as then LOL
