That looks pretty complete. Besides the mount, what else do you need?
I think it's just the mount that I need. It's got a radio/tape deck from the late '70. The guy said the antenna broke on it so I guess it doesn't work very well. I can't imagine listening to the radio when riding anyway so am not too concerned. :music2: :fiddle:

Got a reply back from Straight Wings; $75 for the bracket + $18 shipping. Seems a bit pricey  . I'm hoping I can find one a bit cheaper.

I have one a LOT cheaper than that if you can't find one locally.
Thanks Brian. I will give the local thing a chance for a couple of weeks but if nothing turns up I may take you up on that.

:thanks:

sheesh ..wonder what happen to goldwing king in canada for parts
I sent them an email so we will wait and see. :beg:

Does anyone have first hand experience installing a Windjammer, or has one installed, on a GL1100 standard? Do I retain the headlight bucket?

BTW, I bought a mount off EBay for $17 plus $44 shipping. Should be here next week.

Thanks
Brian

With windjammer you can retain the bucket. The ring and headlight assembly must be removed. Mine has just a rubber cap that fits over the bucket. The angle of the bucket matters also. It is a very tight fit.

most of the time the bucket is left there as thats where wires are ....many have a plactic like leather cover on them ...personally i have nothing there on my bike ....if your bike has standard turn signals on it take triple tree top plat off and pull the turn signal sleeves off ....and save them ...sheesh so many cut the ears off and ruin the standard signals ...dont do that ...once all that stuff is gone thers plenty of room there ...and np pieces leading to no where ..just much cleaner look

Yes, I don't want to do any damage to the turn signal stuff. Trouble is the TS mount and headlight mount are a one-piece unit.

So I'm going to lose my HL mounts. But I'm thinking, after I hook up the Windjammer wiring harness, I can tuck the bucket back between the forks and hold it in place with zip ties or something. Would have to made darn sure that HL bucket is very secure so it couldn't somehow jam the forks from turning.

What do you guys think?

Thanks
Brian

FYI, these clip on windshield extenders are supposed to be fantastic at reducing/eliminating buffeting;

That got me to thinking.... I cut down an old windshield for summer using the good stock windshield as a pattern. The leftover piece could be cleaned up and mounted on top of the stocker for cold weather riding!

Having removed my Windjammer and reverting back to Standard with a windshield, I went through that whole process of tracking down usable headlight/turn signal brackets that did not have the ears cut off. These parts are harder and harder to come by. My suggestion, remove the whole assembly (bucket, headlight, both brackets with the rubber bushings and seals, and turn signals) and store them safely away for use in the future.

The wires can be wire tied together behind the fairing just as easily as storing them wire tied in the head light bucket. My Windjammer had a wiring pouch that came with it to remove everything, store the wires inside and it had holes at the top to wire tie the bag to the frame. It worked great! Brian has that bag now with the faring.

Ok, the bucket is now sitting in my parts box along with the turn signals. Wasn't as bad as I thought. There is a bag thing that can with the WJ to hold the wiring.

Now I'm trying to remember what I did with the wiring diagram that came with it. :head bang: :beg:

Thanks very much for the help. CGW rocks :rocks:
