I am in the long, slow process of going through my original '82 main wire harness which has been out of service for the better part of 20 years and for the last 8 years just sitting in a box. I am in the process of getting ready to re-install it on the bike as part of making the bike all '82 OEM and getting the self cancelling turn signals functioning.

My main question is; the harness was wrapped in electrical tape. Removing the tape has exposed a sticky, messy set of wires. Once I clean them up, is there a more modern way to wrap the wires than using electrical tape? :headscratch:

Curious, why unwrap it? It should be good to go as is.
It is already unwrapping in a lot of places and I wanted to clean up and check the wires down their length. I will be cleaning and /or replacing and of the connectors if I need to, but really just want to be sure there are no knicks or bad spots under there. The bike sat for 12 years out in the weather year round and I thought that now might be a good to time to prevent wiring issue gremlins!

There is a non-adhesive automotive electrical tape....used as a loom "wrap", then the ends are done with regular electrical tape. Makes un-wrapping a harness much less painful. A lot of Japanese auto manufactures use it. :good:
Thanks Joel! :clapping:
