    First ride of 2018

Big melt going on here. I'm only a few feet away from getting my '82 to the street for a test ride. :beg: :moped: :head bang:

    DFT 32/32 base gasket

Just an got a carb base gasket, from RockAuto, for an '84 Ford Escort, 1.6L. It is the correct gasket for a Weber DFT 32/32 carb, which I have on my '82 GW. It cost $3.81 cad so about $3.00 usd. It is pretty thick (5/16") which, I guess is good for heat isolation. Question: My manifold has...

    DFT foat bowl venting

I came across this video about the venting of the float bowl on a Weber DFT carb from a Goldwing. The reason I am interested is because I have a Weber DFT 32/32 on my '82 and it really smells of gas parked in the garage right after a run. I was thinking that maybe the float level is too high...

    Winter project - '82 Refresh

Well it is that time of year again where riding is over and fixing begins. :fiddle: This winter I've decided to take the whole bike apart and do a mostly cosmetic resto. To try and keep things organized I modded the work bench I built for the 1200 engine rebuild to make it taller and add some...

    Nice '85 exhaust for sale

Came across this Kijiji ad for an '85 exhaust and thought it looked good. It is in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-motorcycle-part ... nFlag=true

    Weird fairing

Came across this '81 on Kijiji. Does anyone recognize the fairing and trunk? Looks like a Standard GW with aftermarket Tupperware added. Thanks for looking Brian

    Looking at V45 Sabre

Do any of you guys have any experience with early V4 Hondas. There is a none-running '83 Sabre in the local Kijiji. :headscratch:

    Carb help

This is the needle jet from one of the carbs from my '82. It came out and I'm not sure which way it goes in, ie what is the top and what is the bottom. Thanks Brian

    Good paint

FYI, I touched up the paint on the frame of my '82 about a year ago with this stuff. It is the area where the mounting bracket for my Windjammer goes. Since then I have had that bracket off and on a half dozen times and the paint still looks good. Bought at Home Depot.

    Candy Wineberry Red?

When I first got my '82 Standard about five years ago I wanted to bring it back to it's original colour which is Wineberry Red :lust: . So I bought some nice sides cover off EBay and looked but never found a decent shelter in Wineberry. I did buy a shelter that looked pretty good on EBay but...

    New snap ring pliers

Faced with putting the snap ring back onto the driveshaft of my 1100, I finally broke down and bought a decent pair of snap ring pliers. :music2: :fiddle: Bought them at Canadian tire. They are made by Channellock, very solid, different tips are held in the ends via set screws and they...

    '83 rear drive for '82?

I haven't even got the new rings for the '84 1200 engine that i am rebuilding and I will put into my '82 but I'm looking ahead at taller gearing. :headscratch: When I had the 1200 engine in this summer the RPMs at 60mph were about 3300 vs 3700 with the 1100 engine. This was nice but I would...

    Charging too much?

On my '82 the Voltage across the battery terminals is 14.7v at idle and 14.8v at 3000rpm. Does that voltage seem high at idle?

    New Gloves

I bought these deer skin winter gloves at Costco. The leather is very soft and the Thinsulate insulation is nice and warn for autumn rides. I like them because they are warm yet supple so I can use all the switches and buttons on my '82. The price in the pic is Canadian dollars so would...

    Revisit turbo bikes?

Almost all of the new cars offer turbo engines. There's a Jeep Renegade with 1.4 L, 160hp. My neighbour just bought a new Civic with a 1.4 L, 170hp. Will we see a revisit of turbo'ed motorcycles? Seems like the technology has been nail down pretty good. How about a 1.8 L Turbo GW...

    Disc to wheel gasket thing

I'm in the process of changing tires on my '82 (Shinko 230s) :rocks: . I took the brake discs off the front wheel to avoid damaging them during the battle to change tires. There is a sort of gasket between the wheel and the discs. Can you buy these? Can you make them? Advice? :headscratch...

    Blowing fuses on gauges circuit

The fuse that powers the gas/temp gauges, neutral light etc has blown twice in the past 2 weeks. I see that one of the things it feeds is the 7v regulator. Can that regulator fail causing a blown fuse? Thanks Brian

    Trip meter weirdness

Went on a group ride today. Filled up with gas first and 000'd the trip meter. As I rode the ones and tens digits changed as normal but the hundreds also went up a couple of times  . So at the end of the day my trip meter showed 331 but I only actually went 131 miles. When I zeroed it...

    Turn signal switch puzzle

This might be normal but seems weird to me. Today I took my windjammer off and put the OE headlight and turn signals back on ('82 naked). This requires taking about all of the connections apart that go into the HL and then putting everything back together inside the HL. Now, if the HL is on...

    New plug wire caps

I'm thinking of making up new plug wires for the '82. Are the plug caps a standard NGK part or are they Honda? I want to have it fit together like OE; with the rubber cover thing that joins each pair of plug caps. Any suggestions on plug wire? Thanks Brian
