You probably answered this, but are you omitting the cover rubber gaskets? You will not want this moving around.

Good point.
I tried the covers with and without the gaskets and with the gaskets on the cover won't move even if I try to move them. With the gaskets off, the bolts hit their shoulder way early and won't tighten down enough to hold the cover even close to tight.

As a bit of extra insurance I'm going to put a washer or 2 under the bolt heads to jam them tight against the block.

Got the bolt problem sorted out.

Engine is in frame and bolted tight.
It slipped in exactly like the 1100. Everything lines up the same.
It sure looks wider with the extra 1200 width and deeper covers!

I'm done for today.

Dan, you've got me thinking (and that is a worry). Just went out and took pic of my '82 timing belt cover. If I could machine the cover flat where the timing box would go then might work on an 1100.

Brian

That would be cool, cooler yet start making these covers and sell them to Paul to be offered with the C5.

I don't see any reason why not.

Fyi, there is room for error on the c5. The housing doesn't have to sit completely flat or square to the shaft.
This mod hasn't been easy by any stretch.
Getting the right depth is a bit tricky.
