Given the attention to detail you're paying on all the surfaces of this machine, it is going to be nice.

Dare I say that it is going to schmicko...(and I'm assuming that's good).
Yup... Aussie slang for perfect..

I have also just swapped out the granite media from my sandblaster and replaced it with glass media. Glass appears to me good for the stuff I'm going to polish or items that granite sand will be too aggressive for. I did a few bits last nite and I'm pretty happy with the results...

Your parts look great!. The carb intake parts should polish up nicely. Mine did after the vapour blast. Do you have a bench top blast cabinet? I tried walnut shells and not bad, but would like a bit more aggressive removal of material. Going to look at the glass bead media now that I see a picture of what it can do. Cheers

Ernest.. My cabinet is free standing. I have made some modifications so that the media is gravity fed. I only need to use 3 litres of media to do the blast so is easy to swap out to different media's...

Don't have room for a free standing unit, but looking at some bench top models. Would be able to store one in the house crawl space near the access hatch.
See if you're able to make it into a gravity feed unit. I've done that with mine and I can blast with 3 litres(size of pot I use) of sand or glass or whatever media you choose..

Any chance of a pic of your mods for the gravity feed.

Here ya go ansimp me ol mate.... All parts supplied by our faithful bunnngs.
I drill a hole in the trap door with a progressive type drill bit and secured the outlet in to it. There is threaded stopper at the bottom so if needed I can drop the media via that or drop the trap door open...

Any progress? Haven't heard from you in a while.
Hey Ernest, I've been in the throws of changing jobs. A lot of inductions and other related requirements for my new role.
My new thread tap turned up so I was able to clean up the swingarm pivot points and reassemble the 81 to a rolling chassis again. Working on the engine now, cleaning and stripping paint. Preparing it for its new satin black coat.
I've got the 75 and 83 aspy frames all prepped ready for paint. I'm still awaiting the return of my forks from rechroming from the other side of Australia.
The valve stem seals I ordered online 3 months ago finally arrived yesterday so I can finally complete the reassembly of the aspy heads. Which after working on them I am now very tempted to remove the 81 heads and give same treatment. I don't really want to disturb the low km engine but would serve 2 opportunities..... Clean up and polish the ports and inspect the bores after its been sitting so long.
Summer has finnaly arrived yesterday with temps in high 30's centigrade so working in garage on bikes is like working in a sauna. Temp gauge in my car was showing 40 degrees C at one point.
I've still got to find a replacement 1100 for the 81 as well... Steady steady I guess...
Oh and getting my blackbird ready for the road again
New front tyre - michelin pilot road 5 and new battery. Changing the exhaust from a noisy 4 into one back to the oem system. And I'm doing a full service on it as well...
Bikes hey.... They keep us broke and occupied...
How's progress on yours..

Congrats on the new job. Always good to have a change. Nice when parts arrive too.

Bike is progressing. 95% of the painting is done. Working on the switch housings, handlebars. Have painted the clutch brake MCs, calipers, swingarm, centre stand. A few smaller pieces to get at. Checked out and tried the faux chrome product from Createx, Quicksilver chrome. Not bad, but does not replace chrome. Ideal use is for small pieces that need to be cleaned up.

Have finally started on the engine:
Engine side view.jpg
Getting it ready for install. Can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Cheers

Glad to hear your bike project moving along in these crazy times of the world war 3 condition looming
Crazy times indeed Joe... World is rooted.... The sham of an election for you guys.
Gotta have something to stay away from the leftist zombies mate... Only 3 things I give a damn about these days is my wife my dogs and my bikes.... And a home to keep them safe in...

My sentiments exactly. As an aside and not wanting to highjack your thread, but to give some levity to your posts, the engine is coming along as is the finishing paint work. Have the engine mostly together so I can find everything I've taken off - so far so good, no parts/pieces found that need to go inside the engine:

Ordered up some wiring loom stuff to replace the old oil/crud soaked wire looms. Going to do the switch housings this week, will post process and results in a separate thread. Going to bite the bullet and remove the only two items I can identify and give these a go over as well. Going to continue my aluminum polishing efforts as well. Under the white cloth that the engine is sitting on is a Lazy Susan that allows me to spin the engine to work on it. $10.00 piece of hardware that supports up to 600 lbs, good investment:

Hey Ernest... Engine is looking sweet... Still deciding how to go about doing mine. Cerakote is balls out expensive here... Shipping is even more. Still running with painting the engine satin black and polishing up all the stuff that can be done.
But yeah... Your Engine is looking nice mate.
I need to get a set of radiator cowls. I'm going to make a mold and then make carbon fibre cowling for the radiator.
I've picked up 2 sets of for ears for $30 each recently. Will need rechroming but they are scarce. Managed to get a set for both my 1100 and 1000. Also stumbled across a left hand switch set for the 1000 as well for $45. Happy as....
I missed out on a 1200 aspy locally here... I say missed out coz the wife has said I'm not allowed any more... Spoil sport.
