Carb plenum heat.

Carb heat!

So are you thinking of running warm oil through plenum?

Yes. Works for VW. Easier to plumb too.

That is a great idea. I was thinking sources of heat: coolant or exhaust. Never thought of oil. Are there ports on that adapter for an oil cooler?

Yes. There are three ports. In the picture the center one has a plug in it. This adapter is about 1/2" thicker than the standard model so may mean a shorter filter in some cases.

Great idea and your plenum heater becomes an oil cooler with some increase over stock oil capacity

Something to bear in mind is the water has the highest specific heat of any liquid. That means that it takes more heat energy to raise the temperature of water. Glycol is not as high a SH so a water/glycol mixture is not as high as just water. Water also gives up it's heat to what it is touching better than any other liquid.

Oil, on the other hand has a much lower SH.

So water/glycol will heat our plenum much more than oil at the same temperature. Not sure what temp oil runs at.

I put a temperature sender in the end oil gallery fitting once. Temp was 160-190 mostly.

High enough to work on type 1 and 2 VW's with longer runners.

Most air cooled VWs used exhaust heat to warm the manifold on single carbies if memory serves me correct...
