Dan , I thank you .... well , I'm doin' it the best I can , one piece at a time , I'm Old and Slow , but I do have everything except the metal back part that I just built Painted . still like a little fine tuning , and some Body Work . I thought I would have it finished before cold weather , but I didn'T

Everytime I look at the TV or listen to the Radio tonight ....... I get this sick feeling , and would Love to get some Air and ride my Bike somewhere . but thats life in AmericA

When I was in my 20's I lost my Driving License for 5 years , and in that 5 years I rode a Motor Cycle everyday , and everywhere I went , and I have left work many times because of Snow , the coldest I ever rode a long distance was , from work on 2nd. shift , got off work at 12:30 at night , and rode 27 miles home , and it was 16 degs. .... when I got home , I had to use Both Hands to turn the Door KnoB

You know, the coldest it has been when I rode was 5 degrees with a wind chill of -45 degrees. I was riding faster than the wind was blowing, so the wind chill was actually a lot lower than that. It was so cold that the snot in my nose was frozen . I had to ride from Harrisburg, PA to Norfolk, VA to get to work the next day. I spent more money on coffee than I did on gas.

Some can ride in those temps, not this guy.
About the lowest I've been in was 40. That was pretty damn cold but I could have endured it longer with better pants to stop the wind up my leG.

Going 65 MPH in those temps can be INVIGORATING! :smilie_happy:

Back in '82 when my only transport was my Suzuki GN400 I had to ride year round. Snow and ice were a problem! I used to wear Subzero coveralls and heavy skiing gloves and my Norwegian fisherman boots (I was working on offshore clamming dredges at the time.) Cold air could not penetrate those boots! I would ride for about 30 minutes, stop, keep the bike running, take my gloves off one at a time and warm them in the exhaust outlet and ride again! Sometimes it was fun......othertimes it was just plain COLD!

Dang cold sure takes away some of the pleasure, and relaxation of riding, fer sheR.

Riding took on a whole new meaning. I had a hand warmer in right right glove, electric socks, a snowmobile suit and my left hand stayed on the engine block for most of the trip. The further south I rode the happier I got. Did I mention that I was 19 at the time?
