I put 30 miles on my bike today and ive definitly noticed more lower end torque from 1500-3000 rpm  :clapping: :clapping:
On slow acceleration is where i see the difference, I dont notice a difference on hard acceleration

thats good andrew ...its probably going to get a lot better if you keep the routine up....seems like your bike has alot of room for improvement.......

what did you do about the nail in the tyre deal just curious?????

I put a plug in it... It seems to be holding pretty good and not leaking air

I just got back on mine after being away for a week. Started up and POOF, it smoked! I can taste the ATF in the smoke! It cleared up in a minute. But, the cold idle was very smooth. Out on the road and it doens't lug in low gears or rpm and yes the engine is smoother! (Thats a double win for me going from my '81 diesel to a smoother '83 and now even smoother!) I'll have to see about MPG later.

OK...I did it. I put 8oz. in a fresh tank of premium. Dan, Joe...there'll be no safe hiding place for you two if this goes bad.

~O~
I would offer to stow the two of you away but I have shipped a couple of things to O Man and he might still have my return address.

:cool!: Ha Omega caved before I did :clapping: :clapping: but in all seriousness I have heard about using ATF yrs ago but just never tried it, have used a ton of different additives for oil and gas over the years. Use a product from Chevron for the gas tank on the car and have had good luck with it. Been using Sea foam in the bike/mowers and sleds, I'd be alittle leary on running a hotter plug unless you were burning alot of oil ( fouling a plug is better than burning a piston, at least in the 2 cycle world of sleds that is ) have run some old sled gas in the mowers and even the Wing on occasion, Might just have to try the ATF, any brand better than the others ? Not to worried about alittle smoke heck mine does that now at start up (cold) alittle 2 stroke smell on your pant leg aint so bad :music: :music:

I got a place down here in orlando and I have 2 rooms for rent :smilie_happy:

I haven't seen any (noticeable)improvement in mileage, but I do believe the engine is smoother, and has a little more grunt to it...
I'm on my second tank so far. :eek:k:

Just curios joe, have you ever played with the dosage?Use 4 or 6oz rather than 8 and get similar results with less smoke?Or do you know it requires 8oz?
Just wondering :headscratch:

ok the only science i used on the mix ratio was finding small containers that would stand up in my glove box on trips.....you know how hard it is after a few tankfulls of gas tying to do something like measure when all you want to do is rub your eyes and not look at anything ......

i think our bikes are all different and depending on those differences the ratio of mix sould be adjusted ......

on my bike this ratio is no problem but mines a 1000 i run without a thermostat and have for yrs and yrs ...the hotter plugs is just hotter of the two mention in the manual the timing been avanced just a bit and i run open pipes and i mean 4inch open pipes......ive got well over 50 thousand miles running like this with aft......

when i get my 82 1100 i will be able to see for myself ....but right now you guys have more knowledge than me on 1100s ..... it may be
that you need to cut down

if 8oz seems to much for your bike right now back off .....i am confident in the fact that this is good for your bike longiivity and finding the ratio that works in your bike without being to much is a possitive for your ride......

i certainutly wasnt crunching numbers when i came up with my little 8oz containers .....they fit in my glovebox i had no trunk and bags at the time and it was easy to deal with at the gas station and i could go athousand miles without having to refill them....the science of lazyness :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

First impressions....

For starters, I feel my fuel system is very clean save the tank itself. This had me doubting I would see any real improvement there and I didn't, but I did notice a few benefits. First, the effect on low end torque mentioned above was there. Next I noticed that as I was cruising @ 45mph the bike was maintaining the speed at a lower rpm than before. Is this even possible or is it in my head? No smoke this morning or after work, again I think my system is pretty clean. Next I took the longer(but funner) way home on the freeway, 70mph never felt this good. Old girlfriend may have 250,000+ miles, but since I've been working with'er and after this type(atf/gas) of treatment among other tidbits of inspiration and advice I've found here, I feel it's safe to say half those miles don't count anymore.

So I say...KUDOS gentlemen!

~O~ thats great i was wondering how this was going to work for you ...but it seem to follow what i thought from reading your previous things you were doing....

i cant remember exactly how my bike reacted at frist but mine was in pretty bad running order and i think it smoked alot at frist but ran better so i kept messing with it
and think the more i messed with it the better it got....

iguess i could pat myself on the back and say it was all me with my adjustments ....but the continuous use may have been the biggest factor to it getting better

i was thinking that you were not going to get the smoking thing that some others had and with 250,000 miles on your bike speaks volumes on getting things clean with the seafoam treatment you were doing ......

but ithink the atf is the way to go now for like you said its clean .....atf will keep it that way with other benifits .....

so i think its safe for me to say that with continuous use bikes that are smoking will get better on there own .......

GOT CHA!!!!!!!! :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

:cool!: Didn't use either this time she was runnin great , small group for this one only about 40 bikes, and guess what 2 of us were on Wings the rest were HD's
