That clip holds the U-Joint on the output shaft on the GL1000. Get a good set of circlip pliers with right angle tips and it will go right on. Expect to pay around $25 for the tool with reversible jaws and interchangeable tips.

I have a 1978 Gl1000, therefore , I have circlip pliers. One follows the other. :builder:

You will use the same tool for replacing front shock seals and various other jobs.
