I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a camera.

My requirements are,
long battery life and rechargeable from the bike,
An external microphone as well as internal,
Uses Sd card,
Helmet mount as well as other mount options.

Ideas?

+1 on the GoPro. Mine still uses batteries and I have the charger running on the bike with spare batteries. They have a new mini one but it has a onboard battery so you have to wait for it to charge up when it is flat. I love the GoPro mounts, simple and secure.

Helmet cam has it's drawbacks but it sees everything you do if mounted right.

Weight or air resistance? Not a problem for me even at 90+ mph. Mine is mounted high and to the right on helmet.

Gee $129, I'll buy that if it's got external mic input.
Yeah, as long as it has t the mini USB hookup on the side. Of it does I see no difference in the white and that one.

You can see the mic tucked down inside the right cheek pad.

I have the White and it is great. I will probably go a more up spec one next time but the higher resolution you use the bigger the file and more data cards required. I love the wifi remote using the iPhone and the Gopro app.

I ordered GoPro look-alike from China. It's $29.99 all included. LOL
Obviously there is no external mic input, though.

I have a Kodak which has one but it's regular hand-held and the lens is not that wide-angle.

Even my $20 DVR (for car drive recording) from China does a decent job. Mic is mounted under a tiny hole in the back.
I used it to record my CL125A racer circuit practice (~50MPH @ Willow Springs) and it did a good job of recording the engine sound.

I went with the GoPro Hero4 black 4k.
Still need to get an external mic.
