....Have you ever had one of those days...Yep that was Friday for me.... ..I got the gas in the bike, ready for that first start..and all i got was a lot of popping and back firing,,,, :crying: ..after all the second looks i took to make sure everything was what it was suppose to be...i came to the point where the valves were just not sealing right...so after a few test... :crying: ..That was the problem..The PO had resurfaced to much off the valves........So I had a very busy weekend, looking for a good pair of heads and traveling to pick up The Trunk mounting rack so i can get this bike stretched out some more for Mark. I got the Replacement heads Monday and got them stripped and clean, lapped the valves, put in the new valve stem seals..and now there ready to install.

I did that yesterday with the heads i got, after i went threw them Joe....but thanks for the advice. I knew them other heads were clean and all when i looked at them and took them apart, and thought ok, these heads should be ok... but that was my fault for not following that Golden Rule the first time around. There was just a difference of a frog hair split three ways for them PO heads to be good...and somebody split that hair the wrong way...lol.

:0fftopic: FOR A GOOD CAUSE!

Okay Joe, we will have to help you with that. There has to be a code to understand the..."sheesh"! How about......

SHEESH - Means..WOW Man, that is unbelievable!

Sheesh! - Means...Holy Mackeral, what was I (you) thinking!

sheesh! - Means.... that is too bad, I hope it works out.

sheesh - Means...sheesh (or shew, or huh?) :smilie_happy:

..Yep...done that flashlight test too....and anything else i could think of... ...i just could not get the wife in the dark room with me... :smilie_happy:..
So far this morning i got the heads back on, bolts torqued, the timing belts, the valves set, the water tubes, almost ready for that carb set again... :builder:

Well, it's been a few days since my last post and they have been some hair pulling ones too....and some of these.. :headscratch: and some of these.. :Doh2: and some of these.. :heat: and some of these.. :Awe: but more of these.. :head bang: ..so let's start where i think i left off..

After getting the other heads and going thur them, yep..even checked them twice...i put them on the bike and got here all dressed up to start.... :head bang: ..same dang thing.. :head bang: it would pop and backfire...and run just a second...ok...so now what is it...i guess the only thing that i have not replaced was the pulse generator...so here i go...i pulled the motor and got to it...i pulled the pulser....and seen where the spring was catching on the side of the tab, and seen the wires were naked at the magnetic pick-up and the advancer was hanging also when you turned it...so I pulled mine off a spare 83 motor and replaced it, i knew this one was good...So in thinking, i thought this was another source of trouble for not running right. Now i put the motor back in... :clapping: with good coils, good cdi's, good pulser, newly rebuilt carbs, i check the wiring again, made sure timing was correct again, Ok..now were ready to start this thing and just see if it will start.
