ok..so now i was ready to start...and same thing happens...so at this time...i am getting mentally dumm founded. I heard this bike run before...not good..but it was running on 2 cylinders at that time...so i am thinking all along..this bike should run...But i got to the point...HEY THIS BIKE IS HAUNTED... :Awe: so..guess what happens next...YEP---I pulled everything off of it again, checked it twice, three times, both timing marks lined up on the pulleys with the T 1 and it's mark...OK...The heads are good, good compression on all four, new carb, coil pack, good CDI's, the wiring is good, good pulse generator, so why is this bike not running.

Now i know why it was only running on 2 cylinders, the original coil pack was wired up wrong...sitting on the bike....1-2 together on the right side( for 1 & 3 carbs) and 3-4 on the left side (for 2 & 4 carbs), and the valves in the left side first orginial head were tighten down so tight when i got it.

They had it running on 2 cylinders (1 & 3) only... :Awe: :head bang:

BENT RODS.

Bending the rods I'm pretty sure is not the recommended way to adjust the stroke. Glad you found the real issue.

No wonder you have pulled all your hair out and worn out your body and mind on this one. Perseverance won out in the end :good:
:thanks:

Well I for one am glad Paul is on the job. I'd have probably got the the gun out and shot it by now. There are more secrets to be revealed but alas I'll let Paul show the surprise tomorrow. Now you have to live up to the hype Paul!

Curious - if a rod were bent enough to throw off the crank timing mark, wouldn't that prevent the piston from reaching the top of the cylinder? There was a thread recently about just that, and I think the piston only got to within 1/4" of the top. How do the other pistons look at T1 or T2?

..Ok, so i had to find Mark another motor, and i got it pressure washed and ready for some other work. I checked the pulse Gen, took the front cover off and replaced all the o-rings and seal, took out the Oil filter screen and cleaned it, I'll change out the timing belts once i have it installed in the frame. I did find there was no spring or washer in the oil filter housing but i am swapping out some parts also now, so it will get one.

Look at all the tools on the floor Dan... lol.

..Ok....so i got the Motor fired up late yesterday afternoon, just for a short run, it sound good so far. During the trial run i noticed the clutch lever was way to floppy, so i was going to adjust everything out the way it should be.... :nea: ..that didn't work so well...so this is what i found.

I also found the brake pedal did not have a cotter pin in place to hold it on the shaft....it was coming off as well...
