Hi all,
I'm having an interesting issue with a '79. Rebuilt the carbs with a Randakks kit and got the carbs synch'd and idle mixture just perfect. It ran beautifully for several rides. Then I changed the oil and flushed the radiator. Also pulled the timing belt covers to make sure the belts were in good shape. Here's the fun part. I took the bike off the stand and fired it up using the choke. Purred like a kitten. After about 5 minutes or so I turned off the choke and it died. Now I can't keep it running unless the choke is on, and then it will only idle about 1100 rpms. I felt the exhaust and realized that the 2/4 exhaust was cold. Then I checked the intakes. 1,2, & 4 are cold. 3 is warm/normal. I've done all the usual things like check ignition, check vacuum, even checked valves...emptied bowls, and made sure the fuel pump filled them back up. Along with a few other items...any ideas?
Thanks

its number 3 thats causing the trouble the cool intaes are working good stomizing gas right does cool intakes down ... if not working like no 3 it will be warmer ... whats wrong dont know but its in #3 carb

I'd check for air leaks before I removed the rack again. It's possible you have some since it won't run without the choke.

Intake horns where they attach to the rack and to the heads. I once forgot to tighten them to the heads.

around intake horns at head and rubber connector too ...starting fluid spray carfully around joints will show leaks ..as motor will rise in rpm if its leaking ....be totally careful doing this and be ready
