I think the rods have some (designed?) lateral play both at small and big ends.
I hope this will give relatively big tolerance for the distance between two rods. The crank I have got fairly big play at the big ends already so I don't think I can measure the distance accurately.

In any case, he means that I shouldn't do it myself?

I think that is what he's advising. I'd measure everything as is and write it all down. Check it with the book specs. Question. Is the crank assembly available at a reasonable cost somewhere? If so you have an out if the assembly rebuild doesn't work as planned.

There are no numbers in the shop manual. The descriptions for crank inspection are vague. Only 2 pages in crankshaft section and half of it is a port timing diagram.

It says:

"Measure crankshaft shake with a dial guage and act in accordance with Maintenance Standards."

But it doesn't say how and I cannot find "Maintenace Standards" in the manual. LOL

The rest sounds like it assumes complete crank swap rather than rebuild.

As for availability of crank assembly, I don't think so. Especially this is 200cc which is rarer than 175cc model. Even for 175cc cranks, the ones I saw on eBay looked as bad as mine or worse.

But then again, I cannot imagine it is that difficult to reassemble crank to certain dimension. Or does it require Midas touch of the experienced pros?

Might require the Midas touch. Or maybe the repeated hammer adjustment of the guy who won't give up. I have no experience at all with this motor and very little really with the two strokes. But I do know the seals must all work for the two stroke to run.

That means the center disks must be taken apart to replace the oil seal. That makes the matter more complicated..
Hmmmm...

I just found another shop in SoCal. He is out in the desert (Yucca Valley) but he says he will do it for $150.
I know he did BS twin cranks before for other customers so he must be good.
So.. I guess I will ask him to do it.

He could be the 3rd party for the other guy that doubled the price

Yes, quite possibly.
The local guy told me the name of the shop he would use but I can't remember.

This guy in the desert specializes in 2 cycle vintage racing engines like RD400 and H1 so he must be really good.

Probably the best choice for a rare build like this.
Yeah....probably not the best choice for us all to learn something new on. :read:

As much as I like a challenge, for the similar price I will go with the pros.
Plus I don't really have any more room for a floor press in my garage.

Yes, I really need to cull the herd, don't I?
The problem is that most of my bikes are modified and difficult to sell.

Sounds like you have found the right guy for the job :good: :clapping: :salute:

I wish my small bikes were a little bigger.
125cc 4 stroke is not fast enough for street riding.
This BS 200cc 2 stroke should be able to keep up with the traffic.

Yes. I keep adding to my herd here so last year I bought another out building.

I wish I could.
No space in my back yard either.

Maybe I should move out to the desert...
