The removable sub-frame needs to come off, and just poke and scrape to see just how bad it is. You should also check around the centerstand, as that is a rust-prone area as well.

Ok I guess I didnt realize that was a removable section ill be takin a closer look at it tmro definitely need to get it done though

Ik its worrying me I hate rust. Now can I take that section off without removing the engine?

well the motor wont even move or very little there are other bolts that hold it from dropping much...but there is enough there to take off to make you not like it ... especially the first time start by just cleaning it all there ... sheesh old bikes that have sat can be quite the job ... just be patience and don't break anything

if it was me i would just clean the whole bike up and get it running ... cleaning real well brings most things to sight and saves time ... and you get to know the bike better ...the frame piece is not that important at the moment to me in my way of thinking

I got her running today. Runs awesome , better than i hoped for. Just doesnt idle real well but this winter I want to tare it down and clean everything up. Thats the plan anyway.

The removable section should come off after removing the end bolts and the bolts into the engine but the other bolts holding the engine might need to be broken loose to give it some wiggle room. A floor jack should be used uder the engine to support it and helps to align everything so the removable frame will come off.
