I finely just got my gl1100 fired up today runs like a dream the only problem is shes having trouble idling. I noticed the synchronize screws are missing I am goin to replace them of course but would that do it? If someone could give me a idea where to start id appreciate it. I also put straight pipes on it. Let me tell you I had no clue goldwings could sound so good. I fell in love all over again
Glad to be here.

hmmm ...i think it number 3 carb is base carb ...adjust the linkage to the carb next to it so there is no play ... then adjust linkage to other side of carbs till there no play and on to the other carb ... carbs should be all close and there should be no play in linkage when you open throttle ... this is bench sync without the bench and a good starting point to go with

Ok ill do that I want to get a synchronizer but right now I jus want her runnin thank you for your help

Idk the guy I bout it from said one of the carbs was doggyy im sure thats why but I have a 76 gl1000 thats needs love so I barrowed the screws from that and I went out to adjust them and the adjuster screws are frozen so I stuck pb blaster on them im hoping they will unfreeze

I'm surprised it runs at all with them missing.
It should run like a dream once you plug those holes.

I pluged the screws in still the same and I adjusted the carbs and still acted the same so im gonna pull the fuel filter change it theen im gonna pull the carbs and clean them then ill go from there

OK, now I'm confused...(so what else is new!) Are the idle mixture screws missing, from the bottom of the carbs, or the screws, washers, and springs in the throttle linkage between the carbs? (throttle sync adjustment)

Ok where you plug the synchronizer into the carb ports thos screws were missing.but anyway I pulled the carbs and ripped them down. The first one I did the bottom of the bowl had a quarter inch of sludge in the bottom of it and the inlet needle and float was seized up alot of crumb in the jet to it was a nasty lookin carb. The second was just as bad and these two were the second and fourth cylinder. The first and third were dirty but not as bad so I cleaned them put them back together and on the bike fired right up and didnt miss a beat. Now she id idling hight I tryed to slow her. Down but she just dies eventually I think its cause the battery im using is shit but atleast ik the stator is good. Ill get a new batt sync the carbs.im sure she will run like a dream. Im actually proud of my self ive only cleaned tracktorcarbs I pulled those suckers apart and put them back together with in two hrs they were back on again falling in love with my first bike... :)

Sorry guys I was gonna take pics for ya but I got so into it I forgot. I tend to loose track of everything whebn I dig ito stuff like that

I also have a question on the bottom of the carbs right by the bowls are these adjusting screws are those for the mixture. And theres another I have a question about right under the the throttle wheel theres a screw that im guessing is a idle screw how many turns out is that suppose to be
