Okay, I'm going Stir Crazy!! I am needing a Winter project and have 2 options on the table.

Option 1- 1980 Gl1100 43,000 miles for $250

Option 2- 1985 Gl1200 $175,00 miles $100 but the bike is missing the following parts and the owner has never had bike running
missing : handlebars
all brake calipers and plastics

So, Option 1 or 2. The forum decides. :)

Forgot to mention that i will not need the plastics.

A lot more options with option two. Darkside the rear early heads and cams c5 to start. Upgrades for lighting and other stuff are wide open. Single carb etc.

Also, to help pay for this. Take a look at my ebay listing in "for sale" here. Time is running out !!

Definately get both. Unlike me who just bought a 1200 engine you would have the rear end, swing arm, wheels and exhaust. If you use the 1100 heads it would even look stock.

If you throw in single carb conversion it would keep you busy for the next 3 years at least.

Definitely go for the 1200 and get the 1100 for the icing. Does either one have a clear title at those prices?

Dropping the 1200 engine into the 1100 frame would be a hoot, especially if you go for the hot-rod mods.

And there lies the catch. Neither has a title, just a bill of sale. I'm sure i can file for a lost tile though.

I checked the oklahoma website to see how to get a title when the previous owner is unknown. All the options seemed to require knowing who the last titled owner was and getting them to sign the title over to you. If you can get a title issued, the fees will be :registration fee $29, vehicle excise tax $20, title fee $11. There is also a provision for checking to see if the vehicle was reported as stolen, with the attendant police reports required when requesting a new title.

Take a look at Oklahoma Title 710:60 for the guidance on Oklahoma vehicle registration.

Why am I telling you this? I have an 84 that could be put back on the road easily with the 85 parts. I don't see the bikes on craigslist for Oklahoma, so I guess it's a local deal. You're about 650 miles from me (far, but not too far).

Let me know if we can work this.

It's just too far for me but thanks for the thought

Okay, a few different options are on the table.

1981 gl1100- runs but floods out from time to time- $275. pipes have been cut off.

1981 gl 1100- does not run but has extra rebuilt carbs which have not been used yet. bike plus extra carb - $200

Thoughts?

Option 2

On option 2, I have asked several times for the mileage and he does not respond.

Option one has 44,000
It's more important how it was treated and stored than anything. Need to see them.
