Okay, did some troubleshooting today and here's what i have so far. The bike definitely has a carb issue, won't stay running. Flooding out pretty badly. I can fix that. I cleaned my previous 1100's carbs so no anxiety there. One other thing for now, I think my neutral switch might be shot or grounded. When i change gears, all the other gears have a dim neutral light, while neutral has a bright light. The PO had a piece of black electrical tape covering the neutral light.
Thoughts?

Sounds like something has no ground and is using the neutral light circuit as ground. Fortunately there aren't that many grounds to check.

That happens when the neutral switch contact gets carboned up.
I tried a shorting trick shorting the contact to battery + which solved it for awhile but came back. If you try this, disconnect the neutral switch from the circuit first then touch switch lead to battery + just for an instant while bike is in gear.

Tank is out and soaking.

Nice progress. At first I thought those cans on the exhaust were shorty mufflers. Just odd looking open cans. Open exhaust doesn't play nice with stock carbs or the valves. I wouldn't even try to make it run like that.

Never tried vinegar for rust in tank, :nea: muratec acid works very well, :good: but wear breathing protection.
