Had the BMW for what......2 weeks now and its already left me stranded. Parked it going to work, was out in the sun for 3 hrs , no cover. Would not start, turned over but would not start. Tried starting at the end of the day and it fired up. Weird !!
Missing the wings already. :hihihi: Oh well. I can always find a wing to rebuild. Many for sale out there . How is everyone here??

Damm European crapp!! :smilie_happy:
Nothing wrong with returning to the fold especially now that you have all this great Oldwing experience.

I've got an '84 engine that had a 6mo warranty when I bought it (that ran out a long time ago, engine still in wrapping as bought), never used it. was told it has 37,000 miles on it, I have no reason to doubt it, bought many good parts from the seller, stands behind his stuff. So if you need a new set of horses for your 84..........

The price is right :good:
Now that you have a fancy European it is good to have a reserve option. :smilie_happy:

Battery question.

The stamp on the battery is Feb, 2005 and bike is an 04. I removed the battery since I'm having problems with starting, sometimes .(i realize this is a bmw, but i will make it up to you in getting a goldwing for this winter)

Seems this battery will not keep a charge. i left it on the work bench overnight. last night it read Fully charged 13.3v checked it this morning and it read 12.94v. its a bmw gel battery. is it shot??

12.8 volts is a 'fully' charged battery. The 13.3 you saw was the surface charge which equalized as it sat over night.

As Dan said. I find it hard to believe that an 11 year old battery is starting anything.

11 years old lol. I didn't catch that.
I'd say there's a pretty good chance that battery is done. Just because it reads a good voltage doesn't mean it can supply enough current.

I ordered a Motobatt AGM battery, not cheap, so hopefully its just the battery.
Thanks again guys.
BTW , still on the lookout for a 1200 fixer upper.
Later,
Tim
