In 2001 when I was diagnosed with MS I traded my Intruder in on a cage and forgot about motorcycles for a while. At that time I mostly wore a full face helmet - HJC was the brand. When I got back on the bike I used a 1/2 helmet and since PA doesn't require helmets, there are even times I ride without one.
While riding behind the wind screen on the 1100, the 1/2 helmet is enough, but I also have a HJC 3/4 helmet for colder and wet weather. Well those don't work so well on the 1200 without a wind screen, so I went shopping. :swoon:
I picked up a HJC IS-16 and man full face helmets have come a LONG way since 2001!
With the air vents open, I actually feel air on my bald head. There is a skirt that keeps cold air from blowing up into the helmet around my chin. The anti fogging face shield actually works - how long remains to be seen, but for now it is working. It has a removable nose guard to deflect my breath away from the shield, and the lining is removable and washable. But, the feature that sold me on this helmet is a retractable sun shield :music: No need to wear sunglasses or to pack an extra face shield for riding later into the day/night.
For me it was money well spent! Oh and when riding the 1200, no more tears streaming back my face.
