as thick as they have for carb mine was only 1/32 inch rubber-fibre , sold in sheet or small roll.
worked fine but only single use. no sealer needed for me.
my type 4 plenum has 5/16 coarse thread holes. they may not be all the same though as I think more than one company makes them.

Ah I bought a set of pre printed vinyl faces there are a few on e bay and most in the states. for instance

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-GL1000- ... 3a8d3b896a

and

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-GL1000- ... 48620c5538

So what I did is split the instrument there are a few descriptions of how to do this on here and the other site I belong too NGW club.

if you look back a bit you can see the rev counter split and the plates unscrewed. Be very careful the screws are very small and they have some sort of glue on the threads, I would suggest you get a good pair of pliers and use them to just break the glue bond before trying a screwdriver. I foobarbed two of mine.

I then painted the original plates (be careful of the stop PIN) in a very bright white, the appliqués are transparent or you can get original green and black for the Ltd.
Stick them down very carefully as you can and will get bubbles.

I still have my speedo to do. Just out of perhaps interest I bought chrome covers from Germany to slip over the top of the instrument. you can get them here...
or just search on "gl1000 chrome speedo cover" and I chose Germany in ebay as I that's where I got mine. I also have a chrome bottom cover on them. But I want to re chrome them first. Hope that helps. Ian

one more question regarding gauge. where did you come by the bezel (?) piece that holds the two halves of your gauge together?
thanks, dave

just a quick reply, I will take a picture of the chrome bit and the connector and post it here with the ebay address in Germany where I got the part. So hold fast it's comming.

I have just typed in in E Bay GL1000 Chrome and selected world wide, there is absolutely ton's of stuff in the states.

God if I lived in the states right now, there is a saying here "I would be as happy as pig in ****" Ian

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to find just the ring as that was what I damaged, but I kinda glued it back for now. :whistling:

Okay so for all those that want the adapter plate "pics" I have begun to wonder when my adapter was going to be done, so I went off to see the engineering firm that is going to make it for me, the owner said he had a) lost my number and b) forgot the latter I beleive, so at least it will be done soon and now I also have a copy of the drawing he made so here it is. :thanks: Ian

Ian, to attach the adapter to the manifold are you going to run bolts up through the bolt holes in the manifold?
