hmmm looks great so you are going to hi rise it cool ... looks a lot better than my plywood plate LOL

Nothing wrong with wood Joe, I can't make **** outa wood and doing it in mettal is beyond my workshop, so I have to farm it out. But YOU Joe are one of the main reasons I started down this road of single carb. Thanks man. If you all click on the drawing it gets bigger.

Brian, if you take a good look (it isnt obvious) but the holes for the manifold are offset to the carb mounts, they are all M8 but drilled and tapped to a known depth. This will allow me to use bolts from each side, but I think a more elegant solution is to use studs I can then use nyloc nuts.

Two reply and one answer first question yes it does center the carb over the VW plenum and two yes it is a bit higher, but I am sure that if I hit it with the right hammer I can account for that :builder:

Adapter, the continuing saga.....

So today I went to pick up the new adapter, he then tells me that if I had bought 3 it would have been cheaper, well £80.00 really isn't that much in the scheme of things, so I rushed home got out the Nikon and took a few, what I thought was a nice gesture he gave me a plate he had spare that he did for a company about a year ago, so I want opinions on this plate, Chrome it or Gold plate it you can see it at the bottom of the adapter pics I have taken..

And

well the drawing is on here with the dimensions to fit the VW manifold the way I want to do my conversion. I think I will go into the roof space and get the carb down and manifold and just loose fit and make some pics for you guys. as I understand there may be some slight differences between a European VW manifold and an American one. But hay, the drawing can easily copied and made bigger, it's original size is A4.

If this plate is aluminuminum, or stainless, just polish the heck out of it....it'll shine like chrome! :clapping:
Don't know where you would put it on the bike, tho. How big is it?

Hi it's 9.5" x 3" just under a 1/4" thick steel. not SS. I think it would look great on the ass end, in a small box and back lighted to show up at night. I just don't know what I will do with it, it was just a nice gesture from the dude that made the adapter.

Now that's an idea too. So I am off to Palma de Majorca next week for a weeks holiday, so when I get back the new (used) frame is off to the blasters, I will then sort out any welding that needs to be done and maybe chop the front end ala Sparky. I still haven't decided to use (make) a set of springers, they really look great on some bike's but I am in two minds with the wing. If I keep the normal front end, then I will make up my own front rain guard and have it a bit like the old Indian's at the front.

just my 2 cents worth, it seems a springer front end looks best on slim bikes and not as appealing on a wider engine bike like our wings.

I am sort of 70% against it, they look great on a Harley or any V twin, but on a boxer I am beginning to think that it would look like a bitta bike you know a bit from her and a bit from there and forcing it to fit. So a set of chromed fork bottoms would look a lot better. :thanks:
