I'm new to this forum. From Plattsville, Ontario. Hello everyone.
Now to business. What is everyone paying for insurance out there? I have an '86 1200 Interstate. Just got my yearly renewal. $1200 plus. How are you guys doing? I know I'm getting hosed. I would just like to know by how much.

Thanks, Marty

Welcome to the site from New Jersey!

$76 a year from Progressive for liability only. They do not offer comprehensive for a 32 year old bike!

Welcome to the forum. Lets see some pics of that wing.

I used to pay about $65 a year for only liability on my RC51. I have not insured the Goldwing yet, but I expect it to be similar.

I know it is not relevant to you guys over there,
I pay €385 for 5 bikes on a combined policy which gives comprehensive cover for all
and breakdown recovery cover for Europe.

We have heard quite a few times that you Canadians are hit hard for insurance but $1200 is insane. My insurance company wanted $1200 AUD to insure the 2010 Diesel Forester for $28000, changed companies and it is now $700 for $28100 agreed value. The Rats Nest costs $240 for an agreed value of $4500 and $3000 worth of riding aperal but I have agreed to ride it 2 days per week for that rate.
Welcome from Oz

Holy highway robery batman! Im 34 years old, I live in NW Indiana, I have a 1984 aspencade and a 1976 gl1000, full coverage for the pair of machines costs me $250 for the year. I use progressive and have been very pleased with thier service.

I'd say it's time to shop around.

Welcome to CGW by the way!

Welcome to CGW. I have not checked on insurance rates yet as Washington state does not require it on motorcycles, however I need to check into it because the state's bordering me all require insurance.

Welcome to the forum. I'm a member of 4 different forums and this is the most active (and helpful).

I pay USD178 total yearly for the coverage on the GL1000 and the GL1200 through Progressive.

Unfortunately, Canadian insurance requirements are much higher than those in the US. For example, Ontario requires Liability, Accident Benefits, Uninsured Automobile and Direct Compensation Property Damage. My US policy lists bodily injury and property damage liability, medical payments, comprehensive and collision, and roadside assistance for $92 per year. I suspect the limits on my insurance are much lower than a comparable Canadian policy would be.

The temperature in Illinois Wednesday will be 65F, so I will get a chance to actually use the insurance, I hope.
