My motivation for cleaning/detailing goes in cycles. I always like a tidy machine, but I'm not anal about it. Bugs on the windshield and underside grime/gunk not withstanding, obvious dust/dirt on the topside bothers me. But, if there's riding to be done, for me, a quick wipe and away I go - no regrets.

What about you?

When I'm riding a lot I like the whole bike clean, not detail clean but no grime either. Same for my cars. More enjoyable to ride/drive when clean. When I'm not riding it's cleaned probably yearly so that's what I chose.

I try to keep mine as clean as I can, considering I ride every day to/from werk. I usually go over it with a spray detailer every weekend, just to try to keep it semi-shiny. 3-4 times a year I'll take the bags/trunk off and do a good wash/wax on the whole thing. It's my daily ride, weather permitting, not a show bike. I like it to be clean, but clean don't get me there and back. :good:

Everybody knows they run better clean. I shine constantly but I'm old and senile so I got a good excuse :good:

Mine lives in a garage, under a cover. I do "The Big Clean" once a year Memorial Day weekend. Used to take all day, from after breakfast to supper. Last few years I haven't had the endurance, so I wash and dry one half day, and wax and polish another half day. I have a static dusting cloth in the trunk that takes care of dust. I give it a quick wipe with every once in a while. I ride it to work alot and it looks good to others even when I think its "dirty".

Cleaning the bike? Isn't that what riding in the rain is for? :headscratch:

When I took mine in to the Harley dealer for inspection last year, the detail guy felt sorry for me and offered to detail it free!

I had expected them to give me a hard time about bringing a Honda in to a Harley dealer, but they actually liked it. They had never seen a naked Wing before!

Same here. My bike is in a garage. I wash it once per year otherwise or after a long road trip.

seeing that I've been riding the mighty ST 1300 more keeping the wing clean has gotten a lot easier. I've washed the wing four times this riding season the mighty ST 1300 seems to need a bath once a week or more and there is no option for once a week so I didn't vote

I live on a farm 1/4 mile from pavement so the dirt/gravel roads can be tough on keeping one spotless but i do wash it fairly often every 2 weeks and do a big clean twice a year just because. If i know im going to be riding with friends i wipe it down or if im headed to a meet and greet but otherwise i just ride it

I know a guy with what would otherwise be a nice Aspencade and I doubt he has ever cleaned it. That is just lazy. Makes me wonder if he does the maintenance. Is there a correlation?
