hmmmmmmmm now its getting interesting

I moved the ignition ground to the battery negative terminal.
It was connected to the frame where a wire from the negative terminal join.
That's all I can do at the moment since this failure is so intermittent and rare...

Maybe it's a will of God who wants me to check on AMA roadside assistance from time to time.. LOL
On that aspect, it was still not as good as AAA. They located me wrong with my cell phone signal for some reason.
And it took a while to schedule the tow truck.

I have one of those cut offs but never felt like I could trust it to work properly so didn't install it. I should have some kind of safety just haven't decided what.

How does GL1200 w/ electric fuel pump work?
BAS for safety or nothing?
Good question.

What I think I would do is get the bike running on the center stand and start wiggling wires and the harness. I would start where the harness comes between the frame and the forks, it is constantly flexing there, I had two wires go open at that location, that is what motivated me to modify the wiring. I would also check all the plugs, resistance through the key switch. Also wiggle the key switch with the bike running.

Now please remember if I'm right 50% of the time, I'm happy.

Yes.. That's the proper way I know but it's so much pain to do it... (sigh)

Dan your question, the GL1200 has nothing. The fuel pump operates with the engine starting or running, per manual. I would add that when it reaches the upper pressure limit the pump stops. So if you have a wreck, as you are crashing, turn the Kill switch to Off. That way if the fuel line tears or the carbs are over flowing the pump won't keep pumping. Easy right,

Actually just reading through the owner's manual and there is no mention of what to do regarding the crash situation. There are tons of other warnings, but a real emergency....back then Honda wants no part of that discussion! A newer bike manual doesn't go there either, just a lot more warnings that if you ride you can die (that's the readers digest version). My other ride does have a tip shut-off.

I'm wondering if that is due to legal concerns, some of these big corporations get sued for the dumbest reasons. My wife told me about one where a guy picked up a lawnmower while it was running and cut his fingers off, sued the manufacture because there was no label telling him not to pick it up while running.

You just can't fix stupid.

He was trimming his hedges with it. Cut off his fingers when he let go I heard.

The 1200 fuel injected models do have a tip switch, and it only kills the fuel pump. These pumps are high-pressure, centrifugal pumps, not the plunger type used on the carb models.
