Hello;
My name is John and I have a 1976 GL1000 LTD. I aquired it from my Dad about 15 years ago. He bought it new from our local dealer and enjoyed it for many years. He quit riding when his eyesight and reflexes were starting to worry him. I have been letting it sit a lot for the last 7 years because it seemed to have so many little problems that I found it easier to just ride my other bikes. I have been feeling guilty about it, and have begun to try to bring it back to health. I have been surfing the web finding all the information I can to overcome some of my difficulties, and have had good success so far. I will be much more of a reader than a talker if thats ok. I try to never miss a good opportunity to shut up. But if I have something important to share, I will.

:laptop: :hi: Big help for most things needing fixing on it can be found here, usually it is someplace on this forum, or interjected when a question is asked. The Classic GoldWing forum has people from all walks with many fixes for the Wings, :help: do not hesitate to ask about any problem, the chance is excellent someone will know the answer. :Egyptian: An awesome book of GL knowledge. :Egyptian: Enjoy, all the best, welcome. 1976 LTD with Carroll Shelby wheels. Progress report. I have managed to get everything done I think.
Fork seals and refinish fork legs.
Serviced steering stem bearings
Timing Belts
Water Pump (Genuine Honda)
Water Pump gasket kit twice (!)
Tires
Rebuilt carbs
Adjust valves
Polished a lot of the aluminum.
Repainted the top of the engine where gas damaged the finish.
Electrolisys rust removal for the tank.
New battery.
Manufactured shelter side hinge pins.
Rebuilt rear master cylinder.
Replaced all fluids.
Refurbished advance unit. (Has a Prestolite Electronic ignition.)
Adjust timing.
Did the proper clutch adjustment.

The Saber Cycle water pump gasket kit comes with O-Rings that are not properly sized. I had to order a KP gasket kit and do it over again. The smaller of the two water pump O-Rings was too small of a cross section, and it leaked oil when parked.

Hopefully it will just be routine maintenace and lots of riding now.

Thanks for all the kind words. And it's too bad about Saber Cycle. I wanted to think they were honest business people with good parts, but I have seen the light. Live and learn. :thanks:
