Hi all, I am new to this site and hope to gain valuable info regarding my ride. I am a retired cop from Houston, Texas (32 years). I got out of the big city and moved to a small town in the NW Arkansas area, right in the middle of the Ozark mountains. I bought a trike conversion: 1985 GL1200 front end, powered by a souped up VW engine with 2 dual port carbs and mild racing cam. Has a Harley front gas tank, spun aluminum rear tank, seats from a farm tractor (recently recovered), Harley hand controls and a Suzuki speedometer head. Boy, Johnny Cash would be proud of me: "Got it one piece at a time....." Except it has cost me quite a few dimes. Anyway, glad to be here and looking forward to using info on this site for my Honda front end.

Okay, thanks all for the quick welcome. Lemme see if I can add a few more pics. Trike's name is "Killer Bee".

Welcome from Southern California! That's an awesome trike! I've been fantasizing about building one around a Corvair drive train. It definitely takes LOTS of dimes...

I know where you can get a Corvair!!! :smilie_happy:
We are seeing quite a few Subaru powered trikes with an adaptor to the VW gearbox down here. Some photos of a local one.

Hauling a**? You bet! The day I bought it I was gonna stop to get gas. Got caught by a red light. When light turned green I gave it too much throttle when releasing the clutch. Popped four (4) "wheelies" before I could get it under control. Scared the crap outta me.

Welcome from Central Illinois. This is the absolute BEST site for advice and information about the classic Goldwings!!

My son built a dune buggy with a 2.8 V6 and the VW transaxle. It won't wheelie (4 passenger long wheelbase), but is guaranteed to leave your stomach behind when climbing hills. Of course, he's crazier than his father.

As a retired PSO, you may enjoy the "No Holds Barred" area. Warning - there are some vehement, opinionated people hanging out there. :cheeky: :Awe:  And, maybe not.
