I just reread this - the results were, most definitely, professional quality :clapping:
It really does look like something that we all could do... after all winter is coming and, for most of us, that means a break in the riding season.

Hmmm.....what color to do???

I could think of a few... Black or Gray

Brian - I'm actually thinking about doing the frame in silver and the plastic in metallic yellow......I wanna be seen by the cagers....
Cagers....airplanes........space shuttle.......... :smilie_happy:

..Really nice work, i'm just waiting on a 82 rolling frame...i have enough parts and most of the farings to build a complete bike...but i'm thinking outside the box this time....something different, since the bike is not complete or orginial. I need to get busy..i have 3 motors and 3 carbs to build also... :head bang: ..never enough time for what i want to do.

Nice job. I just did this on my timing belt covers with 5 coats of clear to hopefully minimize rock damage. Lots of clearcoat is good because you can sand it down and really get it glassy. Though I haven't sanded anything yet and it all looks amazing so far.

Eventually I think I will get them powder coated though, because it is the strongest. Just don't want to spend the $ on it right now.

Sometimes powder coating can be a little brittle and really chip off with rock strikes etc, paint can be more forgiving and easily touched up.

I am not so sure that is true, powdercoating is really tough. I can tell the difference between the wear on the painted vs the powdercoated parts on the bike.

Old powder coating is really tough like that on the Honda frames :good: I believe like most things ( non asbestos brake pads) that the new processes/ products are not as good as the original ones. You may have better systems in the States but I have seen this chipping occurring on most jobs here in Oz with stone damage :(

Many of the finishes are not as good as the old because of tough epa requirements.
Even a painter I know can no longer guarantee the paint.

It seems that a lot of these new environmental friendly products are turning out to be not so friendly and in most cases don't work as well :(
