What # steel wool did you use?
The 0000 fine wool.

Only in America!! Down here our choices are with soap or without soap!! :smilie_happy:
 
Its been a month with lots of riding and the polished aluminium is holding up great! To get a mirror look at anytime, I just rub with that 0000 steel wool for a minute and right back to chrome finish!

Cool! No clearcoat?
Naw....too risky! I have read too many times that the over the counter clearcoats fail on polished aluminium. Apparently, there is a specific cleaning process and special clear coat for polished aluminium and it is not available via rattle can.
