Those of us with dull parts are watching...
Good point! I might try to make a video of polishing the second fork for that reason. Poor mans polishing.....1984 3/8" drill, a couple of sanding discs from a used headlight restore kit and too lazy to take the darn wheel off! :hihihi:

I'll posts some pics at lunch today and do a video tonight as I polish the other fork!

If this goes the way it did last night, I think it will be the fastest way to get polished aluminium to look mirror finish without disassembling everything!

I like the fact that you (or should I say I) cannot tell what is chrome versus what is polished from the fork tube up to the headlight bracket!

I did slip the front fender on and for the most part, only the polished parts are showing. But there is a small area just above where the fender bolts on that I think needs polishing on the inside. The front wheel is coming off anyway to get the tire replaced, so I will hit that area then. But over all, this polishing has all been done with the wheel on.

BTW, will you look at the tread still remaining on that front tire! :Egyptian:

Over 22,000 miles on it! I am replacing it because it is over 8 years old (by date code) and it is close enough in the wear bars to consider replacing. Plus, the bike is all apart anyway!

No more Flitz for me!! This is the way do it!! :clapping: :yahoo:

Remember, the clearcoat has already been removed with paint stripper and I am working with just the aluminium. I did take the wheel off to give better access with the camera. Total time from dull aluminium to mirror finish with this method.....3 minutes and 30 seconds!

+1 Very nice job Gerry and I am pleased to see that you are replacing the front tire even though there is tread still on it :good:

... sheesh way to hang on to a tool that drill is from the 60s
Naw....it is from Sear's, 1984. It was my first power tool I bought for myself! (Although the bearings are starting to make noise.) :hihihi:
