My project is a 76 GL1000. Was my Dad's that he bought around 1977/78 from a Oklahoma State Trooper up by Enid, OK who never asked if he knew how to ride. He rode it fine all the way back to OKC until he got to his first stoplight at 5pm rush hour and forgot to put his feet down lol. He then had it painted sliver and did all the electronics and lighting himself being a electronic technician. If you think about he was one of pioneers for that time putting electronics on a Wing. Picture from hospital newspaper where he worked around 79/80.
He rode it until he was diagnosed with MS in late 80s it was parked outside under a bike cover around 1990, until my mom give it to my uncle for working on and repairing her van. He tried to get it started in late 2000's. He got it running but it was rough. But that was it was placed back outside without a cover for a yr or 2 when it was moved into a barn and sat there till 2016 when i asked if I could have it back. He agreed. Pictures in barn:
