I'm putting all my pictures and describing what needs to be modified on this carb, plugged etc.

Joe, is this picture description accurate what needs to be done with the power valve?
I'm going to edit that description with HOW it should be disabled.
Need your input on that.

Sorry Jungo,

My Beautiful Wife and I do at least a hour workout 5-days a week two days off for rest/repair. Today was one of those days.

Yes, you can take off or cut that plunger as it will only cause you problems, it is a after run anti diesel solenoid.

We don't need it, some guys just either remove if yours is not removable, they cut off the plunger.

BUT!!!!!

I like to always have a way to go back just in case.

For my carb. I would buy that CHEAP plug, but blue loctite it in, to seal against a vacuum leak.

Hey West, do I need to remove the cutoff solenoid and install a plug on my 34 PICT 3 carb?

Great pic.

Good info

I will pull mine just to verify.

and provide some numbers.

In talking to Tom the GM fuel management engineer,

Just a FYI
He said that there are some of the 32DFT's that do Not have a vent from the top of the carb to the float bowls.

The vents are on the sides of the where the jets are located one on each side, just out side of the jets

He does Not sell the Non Float bowl vented, Carbs, his are vented, he said they do not run as good.

A power valve like that works off of vacuum. It needs a steady vacuum source to work properly. For your purpose, that thing will sit there and pulsate open/closed continuously....pumpin fuel down the carb. Not good. Needs to be disabled. Best to block the holes completely, imo. Plus, one good backfire, and that thing is gone, anyway.
The easiest way to block it would be to remove the cover, and find something to cram in between the cover and the diaphragm. However....if the diaphragm is already busted, or has a hole, then the feed hole will need to be blocked.

Dan

If you remove the Elec. Choke, will that get rid of that power valve correct?

Plug the vacuum port under the elec. choke, with the screw you removed from the elec choke dis assembly

My carb does not have that, But there is a plug another plug at the left rear o the carb.

My carb came this way set up ready to go right out of the box.

$90.00 Brand New Carb. ready to go, no jetting or adjustment need other than set the idle
and remove the elec. choke.

Hmm, don't know.

Mine came $65 rebuilt with shipping. $90 brand new and ready to go is a great deal.

And you know that the correct non essential crap has been removed already (with exception of elec. choke)

Also this carb is a vented carb. from top of carb. to float bowl already, so you will NOT have any drive ability problems.

Again

Look at the picture to see what is missing from your carb vs Tom's carb that he sells.

This Tip sheet is the info for Toms carb, that he puts in with every 32DFT carb he sells, it has some good info on it.

Dan,

That power valve,

is it screwed into the elec. choke body and seperate from the main carb body,
meaning that once the elec choke is removed it come off with it?

No.
It's completely separate from the e choke assembly and on the opposite side of the e choke.
It's on the same carb body side as the fuel inlet.
Pic to follow...

Dan

Both my 32DFT & my 32/34DFT, dont have that.

the 32/34DFT has the one vacuum large line going out further back on the carb.

I think remove it, lets see whats under it, if just a plunger & vacuum passage, then plug it.

It should be pipe thread.

Napa or other auto parts houses have pipe thread plugs.
take carb with you, get all plugs you will need, at once.

also rubber female plugs to plug the male vacuum attachment lines on carb.

Dan

My jet sizes are different, on my 32dft carb that is supplied from Tom.

Top line is the jets that are in mine

West, if you wouldn't mind, put your pics in your gallery then use the links to display them in your posts. Much easier to read them that way.

:thanks:

Dan

This will help,

Look at i think page 3 it shows that what we thought was a power valve.

it is something different

This manual is a Very Good Reference for this carb

it give a some tuning info

Shows a High altude part that can be added to auto compensate for high altitudes.

This is a 27 meg file, but down loads fast
