I have reached a point in this project that it is now a work in progress, as Suzie is in ride form now. I have never ridden a 1200 standard and after taking Suzie out for her maiden voyage this morning all I can say is "WTH was I waiting on !!!!!!"

The performance is awesome, the handling is spectacular and the ride is so different. She's nimble and quick and responds to steering instantly. I was blown away. The mufflers have a rumble at idle but sound like a huge crotch rocket is about to eat your lunch. I love it !!!!

She's not finished yet, more to come as I continue to "make her my own". Getting rid of that fairing is probably next project.

:smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy: i love those moment when its clear of long term ignorance to something    ...its great looking mike ...its seems obvious now just by looking at it ....nice

I like the looks of it now but thinking of carving some more weight off with something lighter and smaller.

:smilie_happy: Yeah joe, I was blind with ignorance on this deal. I know you know what I'm talking about, we been there and done that. :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

Going back to Standard for me turned out the same way!! Whole different bike! Although I had the advantage in that mine was a Standard originally with Vetter faring. Removing my faring was easy. The 1200 might take a bit more work!

Now you are making me think that I will hate the 86A fully dressed, it has been my concern all along when I looked at the specs

The 1200 dresser's are nice but I was faced with a decision of get something lighter or go this route. The seat is a stock 1200 seat that I trimmed the rear off and recovered it. It's not finished yet, I still need to round the back a little more and then do a final recover on it. I've got a Sundowner Deep Bucket seat that may go on it, which is a Harley seat. I haven't decided yet if I could live with the oil leak when parked if I put the Harley seat on it. :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

Still early days for me Mike but all those thoughts go through my head. The Rats Nest should really be the standard but I love my Vetter stuff way too much. I wasn't sure if I liked the looks but I am a convert now.

Well, dagnabbit, she done went and done it again, again I tell you. She is now known permanently as "Trailer Trash". No take backs. :head bang: Had a wonderful putt planned about 130 miles, 80 miles into it the electric fuel pump decided to quit and left me stranded on the side of the road in the middle of rural south Arkansas with barely any tools. One motorcycle stopped and checked on me but couldn't help me, thanks to him anyway for his effort.. Then a man named Steve Gammage, driving a cage stopped and then went to his house a quarter mile up the road, got me some more tools, we got the bike to barely run to his house where he insisted I put it in his garage in the shade, carried me to an auto parts store where I bought a new fuel pump, round trip of 50 miles, then refused the money I tried to pay him for his time and gas finally accepting 1/3 of it for gas, helped me with more tools I needed to put the pump on. What a great guy. So SALUTE to you STEVE GAMMAGE, much appreciated for paying it forward.

Maybe she was resisting being a Stripper and was trying to teach you a lesson Mike :good: . Had the fuel pump fail on the CBR in the boondocks, about 15 mins to diagnose and bypass( you have to love gravity and a tank higher then the carby/s

I know what you mean Tony. I have run a Mr. Gasket 12S before for about 12,000 miles and it worked great. It's a mini pump that puts out 4-7 lbs pressure at 32 gph. Never a problem with it but it was at home, my luck.. They've got another one now the Mr. Gasket 42S made for 4-6 cyl. imports that's 2 to 3.5 lbs pressure at 28 gph and that is what I bought. They are usually on the shelf items at Autozone and O'Reilleys and others and they come with a filter, simple two wire system that works well with the Gold Wing pulse fuel system. Cost about 55.oo out the door with it. Bike ran great with the new pump all the way home, never starved out again.

You funny, it didn't get hot but I broke a sweat. :smilie_happy:
But at least you were still under pressure!! :good:

Sorry for your frustration, that sucks! It's sure nice to know that there are some really good folks out there, with all the BS we hear all the time. C'mon...wake up, lil Suzie!

Christmas in July, received the 83 tank cover I bought off Craigslist. I got this in case I shed the OEM fairing for further weight reduction. Plus it came with the key. It fits the 1200 frame well, just need to make some tabs on frame to mount.
