Hey... I like NYC; it's an exciting place to visit - so many things to see. I surely wouldn't want to live there, but it's a great city to visit.

why would one want to visit such a place ....not me ... id have to be paid a lot to go there is where im at nothing there of any value to see .... if i lived there escape from new york movie would be my main focas ....the people that live there and love it ..all the power to them its there right and life to live ....

Joe - if you've not been there, you have no idea what there is to see...things like the Empire State Bldg., the train station, the subways, the New York Library, Stature of Liberty, etc, etc I would never live there, but you have to visit it - at least once....

I can add that I worked in New York harbor back in the '90's and it was a scary, dirty place. Just getting back and it has been DRAMATICALLY cleaned up! Many of the closed and damaged industrial buildings have been torn down and they are starting fresh and new!

(Even the water in the East River was clean! That was a first for me!!)

I have gone there a few times in the past 10 years. Mostly at the request of my wife. The last time I was there, I took my son to the Manhattan School of Music for his audition. I saw some things on the subway that make me think I really don't want to go back, but if the wife goes, you can bet that I will be right there with her so she doesn't have to go through what I saw the last time I was there. I just feel a bit naked without my little friend hanging on my belt. :ahem:

I've been to NYC several times but I like up state NY. much more especially around the thousand island bridge

William, that is a great example of the classic Lake Steamers (if only her Pilot House). Here is a pic of the whole ship....
