Did you preset the carb to the settings dkl uses? If not some adjustment may still be required but congratulations! It's great when a mod works from the start.

Sounds pretty good running.
The rattle....does it go away, increase or lessen when warmed up?
Lessen or increase under a load?
What are the compression readings? Single carb is pretty much inherently "synced" on all 4 cylinders but low compression on one can bring on a rattle similar to when the stock rack is out of sync. A weak spark on one same thing.
Just saying I wouldn't abandon the engine just yet without checking other things.
Sound does not change when clutch is pulled in[url=https://classicgoldwings.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=187403#p187403:3vxhhfgz said:dan filipi » 29 minutes ago[/url]":3vxhhfgz]
Ok to try and narrow down the possibilities and working with my thought process, how does it sound with the clutch pulled in?
Did you run it on the stock rack? Was noise the same?
Stator bolt is tight...spark on all 4...still need to know compression readings.
By load I mean, out on the road as in take off and acceleration does noise increase with rpm?

Noise was same on stock rack
Stator bolt tight yes and good spark on all 4
Noise increases in pace under load
